The 10th edition of the Hungarian dictionary has been published (14. hír)

The Magyar szókincstár, or the dictionary of related words, sayings and opposites according to its subtitle, was first published 24 years ago, in 1998. László Grétsy put it this way at the presentation at the time: Gentlemen, hats off to the new dictionary and its creators! The largest Hungarian thesaurus with 25,000 titles immediately topped the book sales charts.
In addition to the public success, the publication also swept professional recognition, it was awarded with a certificate at the Szép Magyar Könyv competition, and the librarians honored it with the prestigious Fitz József book prize.
Since its publication, it has been included in many Hungarian textbooks, and students are often given tasks from this dictionary. More than half a hundred positive reviews were published about it.
Gábor Kiss, the editor-in-chief of the Magyar szókincstár, said at the briefing for those interested in the editorial office of TINTA Könyvkiadó in Albertfalva, that this rich thesaurus has not been available for the past three years. The reason why they decided in favor of the new, repeated edition was because this year, the students who were graduating had to interpret the preface of this dictionary in the Hungarian baccalaureate exams. This gave the final impetus to the now 10th edition of the Hungarian dictionary.
The new edition hit the bookstores a few days ago. The timing of the publication is no accident, as Christmas is approaching and the Hungarian dictionary is a useful gift. Finally, Gábor Kiss expressed his hope at the briefing that the dictionary might help stop the graying of our speech, since with its help everyone can find the most suitable expression for every occasion.
